Star Wars Land to break ground next month at Walt Disney World and Disneyland

A long time ago, in a theme park just up the road... The Star Wars-themed areas anticipated at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World will officially begin construction next month. Bob Iger (Disney CEO) made the announcement at the Walt Disney Company 2016 Annual Meeting of Shareholders that is taking place today in Chicago. No exact dates were given as to when the construction will begin or when the new areas are expected to be completed, but groundbreaking will begin soon at both Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, and at Disney’s Hollywood Studios here in Orlando, Florida.  MikeandTheMouse will bring updates to this developing story as well as any additional tidbits to come out of the annual meeting. Spring Break Blockout Dates Lifted for Florida Resident Disney Select Ticket

Florida residents can enjoy a Walt Disney World Resort vacation during Spring Break now that blockout dates in March have been lifted for those with Florida Resident Disney Select tickets. While other blockout dates still apply, March 19 – April 1 are now available for those ticketholders. During Spring Break, guests can savor the tastes of outdoor kitchens during the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. Or, their dark and light sides with encounters with Kylo Ren and Chewbacca at Star Wars Launch Bay at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. And, with the Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen now accepting same-day reservations, guests can sample exotic flavors while visiting Magic Kingdom. The Florida Resident Disney Select ticket pricing is $68 per day for a 3-day ticket (total price: $202), and $56 per day for 4-day ticket (total price: $223). ‘Rivers of Light’ To Debut April 22 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s first-ever night-time show, “Rivers of Light,” will officially debut at the park on April 22. The show, set on Discovery River in the Asia section of the park, will depict an ancient lantern festival guided by two storytellers who call forth four animal Spirit Guides: an Asian Tiger, Tropical Turtle, African Elephant and Great Horned Owl. These Spirit Guides return at different points during the show to lead the audience through their journey through the Rivers of Light. Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps Are on the Way to Disney Parks, Direct from Disney’s ‘Zootopia’

People from all over the world love coming to Disney Parks, and soon two of Zootopia’s most famous residents will be paying us a visit! Beginning this spring, Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps will be swinging by the Disneyland Resort, where you’ll find them on Hollywood Boulevard at Disney California Adventure park. And when Judy and Nick stop by Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, these party animals will be joining our other guests in the “Move It! Shake It! Dance & Play It!” Street Party at Magic Kingdom Park. In Disney’s hysterical comedy-adventure “Zootopia,” rookie rabbit Police Officer Judy Hopps is forced to team up with fast-talking con-artist fox Nick Wilde to crack a mysterious case affecting the citizens of their modern mammal metropolis.
